So the other day I turn on my 2 month old laptop and get "disk read
error ctrl alt del to restart"
fuck I hate tech support soooo much even when to do speak English well
enough to understand them I still got questions like is your monitor on? So
after about a two hour conversation she tells me my cd drive is messed up
it was 3 in the morning I was like ok whatever send me that part. So today
when I wake up I realized that is stupid because why would the cd drive
mess up my os? So them I get to have this fun conversation with online tech
support for almost another 2 hours.
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Thank you for contacting Dell Technical
Support. My name is Sumanjeet and my rep ID number is 126145. How may I
assist you today?"
Blah blah blah about my case number and dumb questions
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Jessica, I would request you to please wait
for the CD drive to arrive.You can replace the drive and then check the
reinstall."
Jessica: "I've tried reinstalling windows with an external drive
on the laptop"
Jessica : "the cd drive isn’t the problem why would a bad cd drive
make my computer not boot windows?"
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Jessica, were you able to boot from the CD
and get to the reinstallation screen?"
Jessica : "no"
Jessica : "not with the external drive that to hooked up or the built
in drive"
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Okay."
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Did you perform extended test on the
system?"
Jessica : "yes for the third time and it took like three hours to tell
me nothing was wrong"
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Did you try performing PC restore on the
system?"
Jessica : "yes and it didn’t work because windows has been reinstalled
before on this system"
About 15 minutes later with no repose from them
Jessica : "GODDAMN IT JUST GIVE ME A NEW HARD DRIVE!!!!"
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Okay."
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "Jessica, I am replacing the hard drive for
the system. All the software will be installed on the hard drive."
Agent (Sumanjeet_126145): "May I have the address along with the zip
code where you want the part to be shipped?"

edit: they are still sending the dvd drive too so im getting pretty much a
new computer

My Dell Latitude ATC just took a shit and I had to get a new harddrive. I
arrived at this by checking the error codes against the internet.
The last thing to try if it happens... or again... is to remove the HD, and
place it back in the bay. Apparently there have been a large number of
issues with the Dell HD that this solves...
I don't remember this journal being as good the first time
as it is now... somethings improve.
My old system was set up so perfectly, that now I just ignore my
pc like a wife who had a stroke and doesn't give head like
she used to because half her face doesn't work.
