the CD player came to life today. still had all of my station presets, and
it started playing the CD at the very spot it was at when the kayak
tipped.
many of you had questions about the Delaware river water quality in my last
journal. To the best of my knowledge, the river is as clean as any river in
an industrialized area. the dark, murky color comes from silt and
sediments. the river is tidal in the areas where i kayak, and is constantly
washing in and out of the local creek beds.
these APUs are small 2cyl diesel motors which provide heat, a/c, and
electric power to the truck cab without the need to run the main engine.
the drivers run these when they are stopped/sleeping. the fuel savings are
more than worth the cost of the APU. the main engine burns 2gal/hr idleing,
the APU burns 0.07gal/hr.
the driver of this truck got stuck somewhere and spun the wheels too much
trying to get out. trucks aren't designed to spin wheels, and this
truck has 700,000+ miles on it.
the driver wasn't fired...it was a n00b mistake, one he likely
won't do twice.
