I went out drinking last lnight with the fellas from my old school. In
between we made a little stop at my house to drink some liquor I had left.
Everything went fine.
When I got home at 5 in the morning tho, I wanted to put the glasses we had
used into the dishwasher. Well one should never doing that when not
sober.
Even tho I dropped the glass only from about 5 cm height (=2 inches) it
fucked up my entire desk.
See for yourselves:

Today my vacuum cleaner and my ironing board broke. Last week my mp3 player
headphone broke, and the week before that someone sat on it and made the
display crack.
Things break. When they do, try to fix them, or buy new ones. Don't
get upset over it.
It's not strange at all. I've seen those desks, and
the glass on them is like 2.5mm thick, and probably not tempered
either. The shelves that use that glass plating can only hold
like 20kg when spread out, if that. They don't cost $100
because they're made for punishment.
If your local university has a surplus store (i.e. it sells the
junk the university is replacing), you can usually get some nice
desks and other stuff, the kind old physics rooms have. Those
will take whatever you throw at them. They're not glass,
rather wood--but glass on desks sucks anyway.
I think it broke in a way that is REALLY cool. See it's symmetric and
stuff.
Anyway now you do know that having a glass desk is really a bad idea. Other
than being fucking cold in winter.
