Your floppy drive will help your computer out just about as much as that
spoiler on your Honda Civic.
- CPU: You should've bought a lower-end CPU (2600+) and overclocked
it because they overclock much better than the 3000+ models.
- Mobo: You should've gotten an nForce2 chipsetted motherboard
instead of the VIA KM400 (???) chipset. In addition, nForce2 boards have
high quality audio chips on there. In fact, a good motherboard is central
to your entire machine. Don't suffer with a shitty $50 motherboard
with bare-bone features.
- Hard drive: Should've used your current one, or waited until you
found a good one listed at http://www.hotdealsclub.com/ like the 300GB
Seagate for $100.
- Mouse, keyboard, etc.: You're paying $3-$5 shipping on each item,
that's 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the product itself. You should've
visited a local CompUSA for them instead.
- Video card: GeforceMX cards are ass now. You can get much better ones
for slightly more, and they'll last you a lot longer for more modern
games (which I assume this machine is at least somewhat for).
Your computer isn't even worthy of being photographed. It's like
showing off a junky used car you got for, well... $504. You might've
been better off getting one of those mini PCs and putting a decent
processor + more RAM in there.
If he looked in the right spot he could have gotten a nice MSI board
(Nforce4) like the platinum for ~100$ Hell, where I'm looking
it's 120$ for the non-SLI platinum (http://www.zipzoomfly.com THE
BEST).
Yeah, but then you need to get an Athlon64 chip, notably one of
the 949-chipset ones, which cost more than the board itself. For
most people, an AthlonXP would be just fine, even the slower
ones. If more speed is needed though, overclocking is a better
way to go, so you can invest in a better chipset, and improve the
overall platform.
Rich have more.
I built 13 comps.1 every year and this is my stats
3,6ghz gamers edition
2 gig 500mhz dual
asus p4 c800-e motherboard
asus 6800 ultra graphic.
watercooled and modded offcourse :)
Too bad that's a piece of shit motherboard, mouse, graphics card, and
case. Congrats on learning how to waste money on shitty things more
in-efficiently.
