Why do people die in star trek ? The obvious reasons come to mind such
as a romulan cruiser decloaking off the starboard bow and then unleashing a
furious volley of disrupter fire through the starboard nasals, a rare
strain of the nelopa virus mysteriously getting aboard the ship and
draining all the life from you in the most thrilling way or the simple
fact, it's just your time.
But the thing is, in Star Trek you have these wonderful things called
transporters. They transport you or anything for that matter, from point a
to point b. So you are gobbled up, saved into a pattern buffer, and then
ungobbled elsewhere. simple really, and these pattern buffers, or pattern
traces are saved. So why not when you die just have someone re-energise you
and bingo, you are back to life (would of forgotten everything since your
last pattern trace was saved - but hey who cares). To solve that problem,
why not save a copy of your younger, more handsome self and also a copy of
your mind/memories everyday and when that dreaded death comes, get the
transporter chief to just combine the two and you're back ! Incredibly
intelligent and wise or insanely crazy (is there a difference ?).
And apparently you can also use a strand of DNA to re-energise someone.
Could bring everyone back who has ever lived and even create an island for
friendly dinosaurs to live on. Who knows !!!
And what the hell are the transporter rooms for … ? |
